Komakado Kazaana, located in Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a mysterious lava cave formed by a volcanic eruption of Mt. Fuji approximately 10,000 years ago. Stretching 290 meters in length, it is one of the largest lava caves in Japan and has been designated a National Natural Monument.
Inside the cave, you can observe fascinating geological formations created by volcanic activity, such as lava flow traces and naturally formed rock pillars. The powerful force of nature is truly palpable here. With a constant temperature of around 13°C throughout the year, it’s a perfect destination to cool off during the warmer months.
